Tyson was born in Orangeville, and was raised in Wyevale, Ontario.   He grew up among small towns in the diverse area of Georgian Bay where he grew to love and respect nature and life on the water.  While completing post secondary studies in Environmental Management and Natural Resource Law Enforcement, Tyson began alternatively working in the forestry industry of British Columbia and travelling overseas.

Tyson is an accomplished scuba diver, photographer (both above and under water), and has a profound love for animals and the natural world.  In recent years, Tyson has become increasingly interested in sustainability and teaching people about personal choice.  He understands the challenges in reaching such a large demographic, and realizes that actions are necessary for the next decade and for the success of future generations.  In the next few years, Tyson plans to return to university to continue studying ecology.

Cloe was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta.  From Edmonton she experienced the tranquility of camping in the prairies and the adventures of summer vacations to the west coast.  These family vacations planted the seed to move to Vancouver Island.  In 2003 Cloe moved to Victoria where she completed her studies in Anthropology and Environmental Studies at UVic.  Cloe is passionate about lifelong learning through travelling, dancing, and adventuring.

She is also pursuing further education in Aboriginal issues- another passion of hers.

Over the years, she has been fortunate enough to travel to numerous overseas destinations and is now yearning to experience her home continent more intimately.  Cloe's interests in ocean kayaking, cycling and scuba diving have been fuelled by living on the west coast and she hopes to become a kayak guide and scuba instructor in the next few years to come.

Tyson and Cloe met through a mutual Australian diving and travelling friend in 2007.  Since then, they have inspired and motivated each others’ dreams and goals which have culminated in their ideas and passions for this project.  Cloe’s dream of exploring Canada while living in a van inspired Tyson to further pursue his vision.

Constantly searching for an answer to promote sustainability in mass, Tyson, in the summer of 2006, envisioned the expedition that is now Driven to Sustain.
